Uma Mishra-Newbery is a movement strategist, feminist leader, and somatic abolitionist whose work bridges global systems change with deep relational care. With a career spanning international advocacy, organisational transformation, and values-driven philanthropy, she brings a steady, people-centered approach to leadership that prioritises integrity, co-creation, and justice. She currently serves as the Interim Executive Director of FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund and was previously the Executive Director of Women’s March Global. Uma is also the initiator of the Racial Equity Index and a former senior consultant with The Better Org, where she guided philanthropic and nonprofit institutions through profound culture change, racial equity integration, and systems-level transformation.

Uma is a sought-after speaker and facilitator who brings clarity, courage, and care to global conversations on justice, leadership, and movement building. From international conferences to intimate learning spaces, she engages audiences with grounded insight on dismantling white supremacy in philanthropy and feminist movements, the possibilities of values-aligned leadership, and the power of collective action.

As an educator and strategist, Uma designs and delivers trainings for leaders, organizers, and institutions on grassroots mobilization, social justice action design, racial equity in nonprofits and global development, and transformative leadership for BIPOC and veteran communities.

She has moderated and chaired dozens of global dialogues on human rights and feminist futures, always creating space for honesty, complexity, and deep listening.
